Steve Irwin was known and beloved for his conservation efforts and his internationally-broadcast wildlife documentary series The Crocodile Hunter. Sadly while filming an underwater documentary Ocean's Deadliest, he died after being pierced in the heart by a stingray barb. His fervour and passion around protected species, scaley and cuddly alike, found him a special place in the hearts of fans.
