A history of Bundy Rum:

1888 - Bundaberg Distillery is born
1889 – 22,5000 gallons of rum rolls of the production line
1890 – A small amount is sent to WA, NSW and VIC establishing a national ambition
1898 – Company was liquidated and reformed with a new shareholding
1907 – 1914 – Production interrupted due to fire in Bundaberg Rum distillery
1936 – Second fire erupts spreading to the Burnett River setting it on fire. Bottling operations then moved to occur in-house only
1961 – Bundy Bear was introduced and developed by Leo Burnett, intended to convey a sense of mateship
