Formed in the 1970s, Queen was established off the back of multiple failed bands comprised of Brian May and Roger Taylor. At the time, the pair played together in the band ‘Smile’. Mercury was a fan of the band, soon after joining them and naming the band ‘Queen’. Deacon joined a year later, where the crew made 3 albums in 3 years, before breaking international success in 1975 with A Night At The Opera. This album featured what would become the bands’ biggest hit ever, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, which charted number one in the UK or nine weeks. 1977 saw album ‘News of the World’, featuring ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’, songs that are known as some of the greatest to this day. Fast forward to the 1980s, Queen were one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world, playing one of their last shows as a band in 1985 at Live Aid. Queen continues to be a massive influence in pop culture decades on.
